Our Story

Meet Lyndsay

I’m Lyndsay, owner and head flower wrangler over at Wildroot Flower Co., and I am so excited you found your way to our crazy corner of the internet.

I caught the flower bug when I was young and I’ve been working in the Horticulture industry since I was 16. While I adore all things flowers and farming, I’m equally passionate about sharing the real side of flower farming—the stuff you don’t see in perfectly curated Instagram feeds. Yep, I’m here to bust the fantasy bubble (sorry!), but I promise to always keep it real. I will share the wins, encourage you and yes, share those the inevitable hiccups of farm life. Think of me as your go-to gal for advice that’s as real as the dirt under my nails.

When I’m not knee-deep in farming, you’ll probably find me exploring the outdoors with my adorable husband, Shawn, and our two pups, Hadley and Kona, or snuggled up reading a book. I love dreaming about my business and all the new ways I can share our beauty with the world.

Meet Shannon

Hi everyone. I am Shannon, and alongside my husband, Judd, I am the owner of Bloom Hill Farm in Northeast Ohio. Over 9 years ago, we started our farm with zero farming or plant knowledge and have grown our business from 1/4 acre to now over 18 acres of flower production. What a ride it has been! I've learned so much. Had a lot of failures and a lot of wins too! My passion is sharing everything I have learned so that you can thrive in your business.

My goal is simple - to inspire you and give you all the information you need to grow the farm of your dreams - on your own terms. I promise, you can do it. I've seen it with my own eyes. You'll need a lot of grit and some flower farming best friends to guide you - and Lynds and I would be honored to be your guide! We promise to give you real, honest advice. No marketing gimmicks here. Just love for the flower farming world and a deep desire to see everyone succeed.

Welcome to the Dirt on Flowers family - you're officially a "dirtbag!"

Starting a flower farm can feel overwhelming, especially when you're figuring it out on your own. We know the feeling because we've been there. Here's how a few Instagram messages turned into a friendship, a support system, and eventually—a podcast.

We didn’t have a guidebook or a mentor telling us, “This is hard, but it’s worth it.” But what we did have was each other.

How It All Started

Even though we came from completely different backgrounds, we quickly realized we were navigating a lot of the same challenges. Lyndsay was building her farm with a practical, hands-in-the-dirt approach. Shannon was figuring it out as she went, balancing big dreams with raising a family. We were both working full-time jobs and trying to grow our flower businesses without a clear path forward.

It started with a few Instagram messages and quickly turned into daily check-ins, long voice memos, and honest conversations about what it really takes to make this work. We talked about everything from crop failures to client wins to burnout and business boundaries. In those moments, we found something that made all the difference: connection.

That’s when the idea for The Dirt on Flowers took root.

We created the podcast we wish we had when we were just starting out. A space where flower farmers can hear the real stories behind the pretty pictures. A place to learn, laugh, and feel less alone. Whether you’re dreaming of your first row of blooms or knee-deep in peak season, we’re here to remind you that you’re not in this alone.

So welcome to The Dirt on Flowers. You’ve officially joined the Dirtbag crew. Let’s grow together.
